With the publication of names of the “November Nine,” the nine players who will attend the WSOP main event final table, it appears that out of nine players, seven are American along with a single French and single English representative.

Despite the recently published 2009 WSOP worldwide statistics which show that European poker is becoming increasingly dominant in the poker world, this year’s final table will be dominated by American players. The 2008 WSOP featured some surprises with the presence of “only” 5 out of nine Americans: the first two places were actually won by a Dane and a Russian, Eastgate and Demidov. The other foreign players were Canadian.

Among the big names in poker still in the race is Phil Ivey, winner of 7 WSOP bracelets and more than 12 million U.S. dollars accumulated during a decade of poker tournaments.
